Graduation Requirements

General Information
Early Graduation
Early graduation is not encouraged. Students may, however, be allowed to graduate early if they demonstrate scholastic aptitude, maturity, vocational readiness, or if there is a financial need. Application for early graduation must be made by the sponsor prior to the student's enrollment in what is to expected to be the final year. The request must be recommended by the Placement Committee and approved by the Principal.
Waiver of Graduation Requirements
Normally graduation requirements are not waived. A written request for waiver must be made by the sponsor prior to the enrollment in the student's final year. It is to be submitted through the Guidance Office to the Placement Committee and the Principal. If approval is recommended, the Principal will consider the request. Each case will be decided on its own merits. Waiver of graduation requirements for a student receiving services on Individual Education Plan (IEP) will be facilitated through the Case Study Committee.
Transfer Students
The Guidance Office will consult with parents and students regarding problems arising from transfer to or from Mannhiem High School. Every effort will be made to provide students with a continuing educational program with as few interruptions and changes as possible.
Mid-Year Graduation
Students graduating at mid-term (end of the first semester) will be given the opportunity to graduate with the senior class in June.
Graduation Requirements
Students graduating must successfully complete a minimum of 26 units of high school credit, and earn a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better. One unit of credit is given for each full year of course work. One-half unit of credit is given for each semester of course work. Seven credits can be earned per year. Units must be completed with a passing grade (D or above) in order to count as credit toward graduation. Of the 26 units required for graduation, 20 must be completed in the following subject areas and the remaining 6 units must be met by electives.
