Graduation Requirements

General Information

Early Graduation

Early graduation is not encouraged. Students may, however, be allowed to graduate early if they demonstrate scholastic aptitude, maturity, vocational readiness, or if there is a financial need. Application for early graduation must be made by the sponsor prior to the student's enrollment in what is to expected to be the final year. The request must be recommended by the Placement Committee and approved by the Principal.

Waiver of Graduation Requirements

Normally graduation requirements are not waived. A written request for waiver must be made by the sponsor prior to the enrollment in the student's final year. It is to be submitted through the Guidance Office to the Placement Committee and the Principal. If approval is recommended, the Principal will consider the request. Each case will be decided on its own merits. Waiver of graduation requirements for a student receiving services on Individual Education Plan (IEP) will be facilitated through the Case Study Committee.

Transfer Students

The Guidance Office will consult with parents and students regarding problems arising from transfer to or from Mannhiem High School. Every effort will be made to provide students with a continuing educational program with as few interruptions and changes as possible.

Mid-Year Graduation

Students graduating at mid-term (end of the first semester) will be given the opportunity to graduate with the senior class in June.

Students graduating must successfully complete a minimum of 26 units of high school credit, and earn a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better. One unit of credit is given for each full year of course work. The Department of Defense Education Activity (DODEA) has calculated the weighted grades of Advanced Placement (AP) courses for students transferring into DoDEA Schools on the grade scales used in all DoDEA schools. Students entering DoDEA schools with College Board recognized AP course(s) on their transcripts and proof of completing the respective AP examinations will receive the weighted points for the AP courses consistent with those points awarded to AP courses in DoDEA. PLEASE NOTE THAT "HONORS" CLASSES ARE NOT WEIGHTED.
