Special Needs Programs
Special Education
Special Education services are available to any student who meets DoDEA eligibility requirements. The Mannheim High School Case Study Committee (CSC) determines this eligibility in one of four areas. These areas include: physical impairments, emotional impairments, communication impairments, or learning inpairments. Students transferring to Mannheim High School should present their IEP's to the registrar upon enrollment.
Services for Students with Learning Impairments
This program is designed for students in grade 9-12 who have demonstrated learning problems involving the processing and production of information. Students work on specific objectives dealing with mathematics, language arts, learning strategies and functional life skills. Instructions can be directly given in the special education class or collaboratively within the regular education setting.
Services for Students with Emotional Impairments
This program is designed for students in grades 9-12 who have demonstrated emotional problems involving self-expression, self-esteem, and coping skills. Students work on specific objectives and may be seen collaboratively in the regular education setting or directly in one on one small group situations.
Services for Students with Communication Impairments
This program is designed for students in grade 9-12 who qualify for remediation in the area of communication skills. Students work on objectives involving articulation, fluency, voice, and expressive and receptive language. This related service is provided on an individual, small group and consultative basis.
FOR ANY SPECIAL EDUCATION STUDENT, INSTRUCTIONAL MODIFICATIONS TO REGULAR EDUCATION CLASSES ARE DETERMINED BY THE MANNHIEM HIGH SCHOOL CASE STUDY COMMITTEE.
