Mannheim High School, a Department of Defense Dependent School (DoDDS), is located within the Benjamin Franklin Village military housing community in Mannheim, Germany. The school is 1½ hours from France and 2½ hours from Switzerland. The military community consists of active duty military, Department of Defense (DoD) civilians and U.S. contract personnel. Approximately 80% of the students are sponsored by active duty military personnel, while the remaining 20% are sponsored by DoD and contracted civilians. MAHS is fully accredited by the North Central Association now a part of AdvancEd. DoDEA in Alexandria, Virginia, administers the overseas school system in the Atlantic, Pacific and European theaters of operation. |

The enrollment is approximately 260 students in grades 9 through 12. The student body is a transient population with a yearly turnover of approximately 30%. Foreign students can be accepted on a tuition, space available basis. About 50% of the graduating seniors attend 4-year colleges, another 10% attend 2-year colleges/tech schools and 10% enter one of the U.S. military services. |

There are two administrators and 30 teachers currently employed at Mannheim High School. These teachers are recruited from all 50 states. Sixty-six percent of the faculty hold advanced degrees. In addition, there are two guidance counselors, a information center specialist, a learning development specialist, a school psychologist, an English as a second language teacher, a Communication Impaired specialist, a school nurse, and an Alcohol and Substance Abuse counselor. |

Mannheim High School operates on a 39-week school year which consists of 183 days, four grading periods, and four 89-minute periods per day, which includes a mandatory seminar period on alternate days. |
